First International Conference on Public Policy and Public Law
Asymmetries in Public Policy: Institutional Design and the Impact of Localism
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Law University, Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Rai, Sonepat, Haryana, India
15 – 16 July, 2026
Jointly organized by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), India and Public Finance Research Cluster, Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University, USA
Introduction
Decentralization has reshaped governance worldwide, devolving policy competencies from national to subnational levels. While it promises efficiency, inclusivity, and sustainability, challenges arise when uniform policies meet diverse cultural and traditional practices.
This conference explores asymmetric decentralization—a model that accommodates local customs and varying degrees of autonomy. With the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emphasizing policy localization, the event seeks comparative perspectives on decentralization, federalism, and institutional asymmetries across democracies.
The aim is to foster dialogue among scholars, policymakers, and practitioners, producing actionable insights and contributing to the global development agenda and Viksit Bharat vision.
