National Conference on Environmental Law, Forensic Science, and Justice: Contemporary Challenges & Emerging Solutions
Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Nagpur, in collaboration with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Nagpur, and CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur, is organizing a National Conference on August 1–2, 2026 in hybrid mode at MNLU Nagpur.
This interdisciplinary event seeks to address pressing issues at the intersection of environmental law, forensic science, and justice, fostering dialogue among legal scholars, forensic experts, environmental scientists, policymakers, and practitioners.
About the Organizing Institutions:
- MNLU Nagpur: Established in 2015, recognized under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, and accredited by the Bar Council of India. It offers integrated undergraduate law programs, LL.M., and Ph.D. degrees, with a strong commitment to legal education and research.
- NFSU Nagpur: The world’s first university dedicated exclusively to forensic sciences, functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. It emphasizes “Education through Investigation” and is developing a state-of-the-art permanent campus at Chicholi Village.
- CSIR-NEERI: Founded in 1958, NEERI is India’s premier institute in environmental science and engineering, with a pan-India presence through regional laboratories in Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
Why This Conference?
Environmental degradation, ecological crimes, and climate challenges demand robust legal frameworks supported by credible forensic evidence. From DNA analysis in wildlife crimes to chemical fingerprinting of pollutants, forensic science plays a pivotal role in strengthening environmental litigation and justice delivery.
This conference aims to bridge the gap between law, science, and policy by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and actionable solutions.

- Foster dialogue between environmental law experts and forensic scientists.
- Examine challenges in investigating and prosecuting environmental crimes.
- Encourage research in environmental forensics.
- Provide a platform for knowledge exchange among academia, practitioners, and policymakers.

- Climate litigation, human rights, biodiversity protection, CSR, circular economy, global treaties.

- Abstract Submission Deadline: June 15, 2026
- Notification of Acceptance: June 30, 2026
- Full Paper Submission Deadline: July 15, 2026
- Conference Dates: August 1–2, 2026
Abstracts (250–300 words, 4–5 keywords) and full papers (4,000–6,000 words, OSCOLA 4th edition citations) must be submitted via the official Google Forms.
Registration Fees:
- Academicians/Professionals/Research Scholars: ₹2500
- Students: ₹1500
- Attendees/Participants: ₹1000
Co-authorship (up to 2 authors) is permitted, with separate registration required. Offline participants will receive a conference kit, certificate, and refreshments. Accommodation may be arranged on request at additional cost.

- Best Paper (Overall)
- Selected papers will be published in an edited book with ISBN or in a special edition of Contemporary Law Review (CLR), subject to peer review.
