NLSIU, established in 1986 as India’s first National Law University, has led legal education reforms for nearly four decades. Call for Applications: Faculty Positions at NLSIU

Available Positions:
1. Assistant Professor (Law) (5 year contract): 06 vacancies
Pay Structure: Level 10, As per VII CPC
Essential Qualification:
- A Master‘s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
- A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Differently-abled categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions.
- A relaxation of 5%, may be provided, to the Ph.D Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.
- The eligibility marks of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale prescribed by these regulations and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
2. Assistant Professor (Law): 03 vacancies
Pay Structure: Level 10, As per VII CPC
Appointment: Permanent basis till the age of superannuation i.e. 65 years, subject to confirmation after the satisfactory completion of two years’ probation.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Master‘s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
- A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Differently-abled categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions.
- A relaxation of 5%, may be provided, to the Ph.D Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.

Eligibility:
- NET/SLET/SET Requirement
- Candidate must have cleared UGC NET, CSIR NET, or a similar test accredited by the UGC (like SLET/SET).
- Exemptions for Ph.D. Holders
- Ph.D. degree holders may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET, subject to conditions:
- Ph.D. registered before July 11, 2009 must meet all of the following:
- Awarded in regular mode
- Thesis evaluated by two external examiners
- Open viva voce conducted
- At least two research papers published from Ph.D. work (one in a refereed journal)
- At least two conference/seminar presentations based on Ph.D. work, supported by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agency
- Candidates with Master’s degrees in disciplines where NET/SLET/SET is not conducted are also exempt.
- Foreign Ph.D. Holders
- Ph.D. obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 globally (by QS, THE, or ARWU rankings) is valid for eligibility.
3. Associate Professor (Law): 03 vacancies
Pay Structure: Level 13A, As per VII CPC
Appointment: Permanent basis till the age of superannuation i.e. 65 years, subject to confirmation after the satisfactory completion of two years’ probation.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Master‘s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
- A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Differently-abled categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions.
- A relaxation of 5%, may be provided, to the Ph.D Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.
- The eligibility marks of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale prescribed by these regulations and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
Eligibility:
(i) A good academic record, with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
(ii) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and / or research in an academic/research position
equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry
with a minimum of seven publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score
of Seventy five (75) as per the criteria as per the UGC Regulations, 2018.
