About National Law School of India Review:

The National Law School of India Review (NLSIR), the flagship student‑edited, peer‑reviewed law journal of NLSIU Bengaluru, is inviting original, unpublished manuscripts for Volume 37(2), with a submission deadline of 31 January 2026; contributions may be made as long articles (5,000–10,000 words), essays (3,000–5,000 words), legislative/case comments (2,500–5,000 words), or book reviews (2,000–3,000 words), all relevant to Indian law and accompanied by a cover letter and a 150‑word abstract, submitted in anonymised .docx format via the NLSIR Digital Commons Repository (email submissions not accepted), after which manuscripts undergo editorial review and double‑blind peer review, continuing the journal’s tradition of publishing high‑calibre scholarship cited by the Supreme Court of India and featuring contributions from eminent judges, academics, and practitioners.

Call for Submissions – National Law School of India Review (Vol. 37(2))

The National Law School of India Review (NLSIR), the flagship student‑edited law review of the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, is now inviting submissions for Volume 37(2).

Recognized as one of India’s leading peer‑reviewed journals, the NLSIR has been cited multiple times by the Supreme Court of India, most recently in Mohit Minerals v. Union of India. Past contributors include eminent judges such as Justice Altamas Kabir, Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice SB Sinha, and Justice AR Lakshmanan, alongside leading academics like Prof. Richard Whish, Prof. Michael Furmston, Prof. Christopher Forsyth, Prof. Martin Hunter, and Prof. Wing Cheong Chan.

Scope & Objectives:

The NLSIR is a generalist law review committed to:

  • Publishing scholarship of the highest calibre in Indian law.
  • Encouraging comparative studies that yield insights for Indian legal development.
  • Promoting scholarship on India and the broader Global South.
  • Fostering deliberation across the legal profession, government, academia, industry, and civil society.
  • Supporting quality legal writing by law students and early‑career academics.

Categories of Submission:

Submissions must have relevance to Indian law and may be made under the following categories:

  • Long Articles (5,000–10,000 words): Comprehensive engagement with a topic and literature, offering innovative reassessment. Theoretical pieces (jurisprudence, legal philosophy) are welcome.
  • Essays (3,000–5,000 words): Concise and targeted analysis with sharp issue identification.
  • Legislative/Case Comments (2,500–5,000 words): Critical evaluation of a contemporary judicial pronouncement or legislative measure.
  • Book Reviews (2,000–3,000 words): Engagement with a recent book addressing legal issues.

Note: Word limits exclude footnotes. Flexibility may be allowed in compelling circumstances.

Submission Deadline:

The final date for submission is 31 January 2026. Submissions received after this date will not be considered for Vol. 37(2).

Submission Process:

  • All manuscripts must be submitted via the NLSIR Digital Commons Repository (account creation required).
  • Email submissions will not be accepted.
  • First editorial review is typically completed within six weeks of submission.
  • Successful manuscripts undergo double‑blind peer review before final acceptance.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • Ensure manuscripts are anonymised (no personal identifiers).
  • Include a cover letter with your submission.
  • Provide an abstract of ~150 words.
