Theme: Gender and Law

The Centre for Gender Studies (CGS) at National Law University, Jodhpur announces the NLUJ-CGS Blog Writing Competition 2026 to foster critical engagement with contemporary issues at the intersection of gender and law.

About NLU Jodhpur

Established in 1999, NLU Jodhpur is one of India’s premier institutions for legal education, known for its academic rigour and interdisciplinary approach. The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes, enriched by seminars, workshops, and conferences that encourage critical thinking and research-driven inquiry.

About the Centre for Gender Studies

The Centre is an interdisciplinary hub dedicated to exploring gender, sexuality, and power in society. It organizes academic events such as PoSH seminars, feminist reading circles, workshops, and panel discussions, while also undertaking outreach initiatives to promote inclusivity and equality.

About the Competition

The Blog Writing Competition seeks to provide a platform for students and professionals to critically examine how gender interacts with law, culture, media, and digital spaces. It encourages accessible discourse and informed perspectives on evolving gender realities.

Themes for Submission

Participants may choose from the following broad themes:

  • Feminism, Consumerism & Digital Culture (e.g., corporate feminism, influencer culture, beauty standards, commodification of empowerment).
  • Culture, Media, Art & Representation (e.g., gender in cinema, LGBTQ+ visibility, feminist art as resistance, erasure of women in history).
  • Society, Social Conditioning & Gender Norms (e.g., marriage as a social endpoint, changing household roles, generational shifts in gender attitudes).

Eligibility

Open to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students, academicians, scholars, practitioners, consultants, researchers, and policymakers from diverse disciplines including law, social sciences, humanities, public policy, and management.

Registration

  • Single authorship: ₹200
  • Co-authorship (max 2 authors): ₹300
  • Registration through payment link and Google Form (to be filled after payment).

Submission Guidelines

  • Word limit: 1,200–1,500 words
  • Format: Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 spacing
  • File type: .doc/.docx
  • Citations: Hyperlinks preferred; endnotes only where hyperlinks unavailable
  • AI limit: 20% | Plagiarism limit: 10%

Prizes & Publication

  • Winner: ₹8,000
  • Runner-up: ₹5,000
  • Second Runner-up: ₹2,000
  • Top five blogs will be published on the new CGS website (launching December 2026).
