India’s criminal justice system is at a transformative crossroads with the enactment of:

  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS)
  • Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS)
  • Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA)

The seminar will critically examine:

  • Shift from colonial offender-centric justice to victim-responsive frameworks.
  • Challenges of custodial violence, victim compensation, and cyber-enabled crimes.
  • Constitutional concerns around privacy, due process, and proportionality.
  • Role of forensic sciences, AI, and digital evidence in modern policing.
  • Vulnerabilities of children, women, and marginalized communities.
  • Balancing NDPS enforcement with public health and rehabilitation.

This interdisciplinary dialogue aims to build a justice system that is victim-centric, scientifically robust, technologically informed, and constitutionally compliant.
