Founded in 2024 with the support of the JSW Foundation, the Centre focuses on expanding academic learning, advancing research, and informing policy debates on law, technology, and system reform.

- Data Governance and Regulation
- Health, Biotechnology and Ethics
- Risk Regulation and Regulatory Design
- Climate, Biodiversity and Ecological Justice
- Technology and Legal System Reform
The Centre commenced research activities in the Academic Year 2025–2026.
About the Visiting Fellowship:
The Short Term Visiting Fellowship supports scholars pursuing cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research on the future of law.
Fellowship Period: March 1 – May 30, 2026 (3 months)
Number of Positions: 1
Expectations from Fellows:
- Pursue an independent research project aligned with Centre’s themes.
- Produce at least one working paper and/or two short-form outputs (blog articles, policy briefs, case briefs, opinion pieces).
- Present work-in-progress at a seminar or public lecture.
- Participate in Centre’s projects, workshops, and teaching activities.
- Mentor students and collaborate on joint initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Work full-time at JSW-CFL, NLSIU campus, Bengaluru.
- Execute a research project in one of the Centre’s priority areas.
- Deliver guest lectures in their field of expertise.
- Strengthen Centre’s research activities through feedback and participation in strategy meets.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- PhD in law, social sciences, public policy, or allied disciplines OR 10 years of research/academic experience.
- Expertise in at least one of the Centre’s thematic areas.
- Proven research activity with publications or equivalent output.
Desirable:
- 1–3 years of post-doctoral research experience.
- Strong writing and editing skills across academic, policy, and public-facing formats.
- Analytical, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Compensation:
- Salary: Rs. 1,00,000 – 1,50,000 per month
- Access to NLSIU’s intellectual environment, workshops, seminars, library, and digital resources.

- Statement of Purpose OR short video (≤3 minutes, YouTube link) outlining research proposal and suitability
- Research proposal (≤1000 words) on one of the Centre’s six themes, including scope, significance, methods, and timeline
- One writing sample (preferably solo-authored published piece)
- No-objection letter (if employed)
