About V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, Noida:

The V.V. Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI), originally conceived in 1962 and established in 1974 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, serves as a premier national institution for labour research, training, and education. Renamed in 1995 in honour of Shri V.V. Giri, former President of India and an eminent trade union leader, the Institute has played a pivotal role in advancing labour studies in the country. Through its research, training programmes, publications, and consultancy services, VVGNLI addresses issues concerning both the organised and unorganised sectors. Its primary objective is to translate academic insights into practical applications for policy formulation, legislation, and action, thereby contributing to the protection and promotion of labour rights and ensuring a just and equitable role for workers in an egalitarian and democratic society.

About Faculty Development Programme:

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme of Labour Rights and Human Rights: Emerging Issues & Challenges, organised by the Centre for Labour Studies, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), features a carefully curated schedule designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of human rights and law. The programme starts with an inaugural ceremony and a keynote address. It includes sessions on key topics such as the foundations of human rights, constitutional framework and the role of judiciary in protecting the rights of vulnerable groups, including women, refugees, persons with disabilities, and children. It also addresses current issues related to technology, AI, data privacy, compliance, and ethical concerns in enforcement.

The curriculum also delves into contemporary issues such as the impact of technology, artificial intelligence, data privacy, compliance, and ethical challenges in the enforcement of human rights. The programme concludes with written and practical assessments, followed by a valedictory ceremony and certification, ensuring a holistic and practice-oriented learning experience. This FDP aims to empower faculty members, research scholars, and professionals through interdisciplinary approaches, to enhance their teaching and research capabilities, and promote active academic engagement in the evolving domains of human rights law & labour law.

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is open to faculty members, research scholars, legal professionals, and practitioners, both from India and abroad, who seek to augment their academic and professional understanding of human Rights and labour Law.

Programme Duration and Details:

  • The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Human Rights and Law at DBRANLU runs for eight days, comprising a total of 30 hours of academic engagement. Two sessions will be held daily in the afternoon, each lasting 1.5 or 2 hours. These sessions will include lectures, interactive discussions, and case studies to encourage active participation.
  • The programme starts with an inaugural ceremony and a keynote address. It includes sessions on key topics such as the foundations of human rights, constitutional framework, judicial remedies, and the rights of vulnerable groups.
  • This covers labour, women, refugees, persons with disabilities, and children. It also addresses current issues related to technology, AI, data privacy, compliance, and ethical concerns in enforcement.
  • The FDP concludes with a written and practical evaluations on the final day, followed by a valedictory and certification ceremony. The participants must maintain at least 70% attendance and complete assessments to receive certification.
  • This structure aims to improve research skills, enhance teaching abilities, and promote collaboration among faculty members, research scholars, and legal professionals involved in human rights law.

  • For registration, please fill out the Google Form after paying the requisite fee. The details of the same are provided hereinbelow.
  • Please provide an active email ID and WhatsApp number on which the link to join the online sessions will be sent.
  • Sessions will be conducted via Google Meet
  • Registration is mandatory for all the participants, and the fee for the same is non-refundable.
  • Each participant shall receive a Certificate of Completion subject to fulfilment of attendance criteria and confirmation of Registration.
  • The Certificates will be shared via email on the registered email ID.
