About the Institute:

The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), established in 2004–05 as a constituent department of Panjab University, has emerged as a centre of excellence in legal education. With a strong emphasis on research, critical inquiry, and interdisciplinary engagement, UILS nurtures students to view law not merely as a set of rules but as a dynamic instrument shaped by social, economic, and technological transformations.

Through seminars, conferences, and publication opportunities, UILS fosters a culture of scholarly expression and equips students with analytical precision and research skills.

About the Journal:

The UILS Student Law Review (USLR) is a peer‑reviewed, student‑run academic journal published bi‑annually. It provides a platform for students and scholars to engage with contemporary legal, social, and policy issues.

USLR publishes:

  • Scholarly Articles
  • Case Comments
  • Legislative Commentaries
  • Book Reviews

The journal is managed entirely by the student Editorial Board, ensuring rigorous academic standards and fostering a culture of research and intellectual inquiry.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Eligibility: Students of 5‑year integrated LL.B., 3‑year LL.B., LL.M., and Research Scholars from recognised law schools worldwide.
  • Categories & Word Limits:
    • Articles: 3,000–5,000 words
    • Case Comments: 1,500–3,000 words
    • Legislative Comments: 1,500–3,000 words
    • Book Reviews: 1,500–3,000 words
  • Abstract: Not more than 250 words (italicised) + 5 keywords.
  • Co‑Authorship: Maximum two authors.
  • Originality: Submissions exceeding 15% plagiarism will be rejected.
  • Anonymity: Manuscripts must not disclose author identity.

Formatting & Citation:

  • Citation Style: Indian Law Institute (ILI) citation system.
  • Font: Times New Roman, Size 12, 1.5 spacing (main text).
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, Size 10, single spacing.
  • Structured headings (Levels I–IV) as per guidelines.
  • Titles in bold, all caps, centre aligned.
  • Case names, publications, and foreign words italicised.
