About CFMRS:

The Centre for Financial Markets and Regulatory Systems (CFMRS) at NLIU promotes informed engagement with issues of financial governance, market regulation, and investor protection. It facilitates research, expert interactions, and policy-oriented discussions, cultivating an ecosystem that strengthens transparency, stability, and confidence in financial systems.


About the Event:

The Capital Tank: 1st NLIU-CFMRS Investment Challenge 2026 is a first-of-its-kind simulation inspired by the Shark Tank model.

  • Day 1: Learning sessions on investment, valuation, funding mechanisms, SEBI compliance, and financial modelling, led by professionals in finance and corporate law.
  • Day 2: Investment simulation where participants act as startup founders, pitching to a panel of “Sharks” comprising investors, corporate lawyers, faculty, and financial experts.

The event bridges theory with practice, fostering financial literacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and policy-oriented understanding.


Objectives:

  • Introduce students to investment, valuation, and funding mechanisms.
  • Encourage critical thinking, innovation, and strategic financial planning.
  • Provide an interdisciplinary platform blending law, finance, and policy.
  • Sharpen skills in communication, analysis, and negotiation.

Eligibility:

Open to:

  • Undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students
  • Academicians, scholars, practitioners, consultants, researchers, and policymakers

Participants may register individually or in teams of up to three members. Shortlisting will be based on CVs.


Problem-Solving Structure:

Each team will receive a startup case file including:

  • Company overview and financial snapshot
  • Funding requirements and equity offer
  • Regulatory challenges and risk factors

Tasks for teams:

  • Analyse business and financial viability
  • Prepare valuation and funding proposals
  • Identify legal and compliance concerns (Companies Act, SEBI, FEMA, etc.)
  • Present and defend the pitch before the panel

Registration Details:

  • Deadline: 20th February 2026
  • Fee: ₹8,000 per team (covers course material, participation, certificates, food, accessories, etc.)
  • Proposition & Study Material: Shared by 1 March 2026
  • Submission: Teams must submit PPT + written capital demand pitch by 25 March 2026

Timeline:

  • 15th December 2025: Registrations Open
  • 20th February 2026: Registrations Close
  • 1st March 2026: Study Material Released
  • 4–5th April 2026: Event at NLIU, Bhopal (Offline Mode)
