The School of Law, SVKM’s NMIMS Chandigarh Campus, in collaboration with the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, is proud to host the 2nd NMIMS Moot Court Competition, 2026. Scheduled for 13th–14th March 2026, this prestigious event builds on the resounding success of the inaugural edition and promises to deliver an intellectually rigorous and practically enriching mooting experience.
About the Competition:
Theme: Constitutional Law and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
Mode: Offline, in‑person rounds at NMIMS Chandigarh Campus
Objective: To provide law students with a platform to sharpen advocacy skills, engage with complex constitutional and IPR issues, and gain exposure to real‑time courtroom practice.
Legacy: The first edition in 2025 attracted 28 teams nationwide and focused on criminal law. The second edition aims to expand participation, diversify judging panels, and elevate academic standards.
Eligibility & Team Composition:
Open to students enrolled in LL.B. degree courses (3‑year/5‑year).
Each institution may register one team per campus.
Team size: 3 members (2 speakers + 1 researcher).
Substitution of members after registration is permitted only under exceptional circumstances with prior approval.
Registration Process:
Pre‑Registration Opens: 23 December 2025
Release of Moot Proposition: 06 January 2026
Final Registration & Fee Payment Deadline: 07 February 2026
Registration Fee: ₹4,500/- (inclusive of GST)

Payable via online transfer (ICICI Eazypay link provided in brochure)
Confirmation: First 30 teams (on payment confirmation basis) will be selected.
Team Code: Assigned upon confirmation; anonymity must be maintained throughout the competition.
Prelims: Each team argues once as Petitioner and once as Respondent.
Quarter‑Finals: Top 8 teams advance (knock‑out).
Semi‑Finals: Winners of quarter‑finals compete (30 minutes per team).
Finals: Winners of semi‑finals compete (40 minutes total).
Evaluation (100 marks per judge):
Knowledge of Facts – 20
Knowledge of Law – 20
Application of Law – 20
Interpretation & Analysis – 20
Courtroom Etiquette & Time Management – 20
Researcher’s Test:
Conducted on 14 March 2026.
Evaluates knowledge of moot proposition, legal principles, and research skills.
Best Researcher Award for highest scorer.
