“BHARAT’S CIVILIZATIONAL HERITAGE AND THE DHARMA-BASED COMMUNITY CONSTITUTION”
Bharat stands as a civilization with an enduring legacy, one that has nurtured wisdom, responsibility, and syncretic harmony across the ages. Bharat’s civilizational heritage embodies an enduring wisdom that harmonizes spiritual, social, and ecological dimensions of life. Rooted in Dharma, this heritage envisions governance not merely as political administration but as a moral and collective responsibility ensuring justice, harmony, and welfare for all. The Indian tradition of community-led decision-making reflects the deep interconnection between ethical duty and governance. Dharma-based community governance emphasizes consensus, accountability, and compassion, principles that sustain social cohesion and ecological balance. In contemporary times, revisiting these values offers pathways to rebuild participatory, just, and sustainable institutions. It reminds us that true governance is not about control, but about nurturing harmony between individual, society, and nature- the essence of Bharat’s timeless civilizational ethos. This seminar on Bharat’s Civilizational Heritage and the Dharma-based Community Governance’ seeks to delve into the heart of Bharat’s civilizational wisdom and explore how the concept of Dharma has influenced governance and community life over centuries.
