About National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru:
Established in 1986, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, is India’s first and most prestigious law university. It pioneered the five-year integrated BA LL.B. (Hons.) program and is consistently ranked as the top law school in the country. Located on a 23-acre urban campus, NLSIU offers rigorous academics, vibrant student life, and exceptional placement records. About the Competition:
The competition is jointly organized by JSS Law College, Mysuru and CEERA, NLSIU Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Department of Justice, Government of India. The event invites participation from Law, Management, and Commerce institutions, as well as Legal Aid Clinics, NSS, and NCC Units nationwide. It aims to foster legal awareness, gender justice, and community engagement through six innovative, practice-based components. Multiple teams from the same institution are welcome, as there is no cap on registrations.

“FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE: LEGAL PROVISIONS FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY OF WOMEN”
General Guidelines:
This competition is named as The Fourth Edition Prof. V.S. Mallar Memorial Legal Aid Competition, 2025-26.
J.S.S. Law College, Autonomous, Mysuru (JSSLC), Centre for Environmental Law, Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA), National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU) and Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India (DOJ) shall be the Organizing Committee.
The Legal Aid Competition is open to all Clubs and Legal Aid Clinics/Committees housed in any institution. Participation is also encouraged from Law, Management, and Commerce institutions, as well as from NSS Units and NCC Units. The competition aims to promote interdisciplinary engagement and the spirit of legal awareness across diverse academic and social service domains.
Each participating institution shall, for all purposes and for the entire duration of the Competition, be represented by: a. Faculty Members serving as the Faculty Coordinator(s)/Advisor(s)/NCC or NSS Officer(s), Maximum of two (2) Faculty Members; b. One (1) Student Coordinator; and c. A maximum of nine (09) other student members, together constituting the Core Team of not more than ten (10) students in total.
All the Core team members and Faculty Coordinator of the participating institution should participate in all 6 components.
Multiple Teams are encouraged to register from the same institution, there is no cap on the number of teams who can register from any one institution.
The Core Team may be supported by other legal aid volunteers from the participating institutions, whose efforts may be certified by the Participating institution, in connection with the Competition.
The Organizing Committee shall acknowledge and certify only the Core Team after the completion of the Competition.
All submissions in this entire Competition shall be via Google Form. Organizing Committee shall provide the link before the submission dates as indicated below.
There shall be no submission via any email or WhatsApp to any member of the Organizing Committee. All submissions are to be made through the Google Form Only.
All Intellectual property rights generated through this competition shall solely remain and attributed to CEERA, NLSIU.
Prize money in this competition shall be transferred to the respective Institution’s official bank account only.
Teams must follow the highest levels of professionalism, have the utmost respect of the privacy of individuals, and have the highest regard to the sensitivity of issues and towards any disclosure of the identity of individuals.
Teams must maintain discipline and professionalism in all mediums of communication with the respective authorities and the Organizing Committee.
The Organizing Committee shall not be responsible or liable for any breach of discipline or confidentiality or any other breach of UGC and other regulations if done by any team or participating member during this competition. The participating institutions must strictly adhere to enforcing disciplinary rules at all times during visits to the prison, school, Legal Services Authority, and NGO.
In case of any dispute related to any component of the Competition, the decision of the Organizing Committee shall be final and binding.
Contacting the Jury members shall amount to direct disqualification from the Competition.

Registration Process:
The registration fee for each participating team shall be INR 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only), inclusive of GST.
Institutions interested in participating in the Competition are required to complete their registration by filling out the Google Form available at the following link.
Registration shall be deemed complete only upon successful payment of the registration fee and submission of the duly filled registration form. The last date for registration is November 01, 2025.

*Note: 1. The Jury Interaction shall take place only for the Top 10 shortlisted Teams. The Top 10 Teams shall be shortlisted based on the total score of the Components from Sr. No. 1 to 6. Only the 10 shortlisted Teams shall qualify for the Jury interaction. 2. The total marks for all the Teams shall be 700 marks. The submission of all the six Components shall be in line with Serial Nos 1 to 6 as shared above in the Marks Matrix. 3. “PRI Members” means “Panchayat Raj Institutions Members” on the Village Level, Block or Taluk Level and District or Zilla Level.
