DME International Conference on Intersections of Traditional Knowledge Systems and the Future: Law, Culture, Sustainability, and Collective Well-Being

Delhi Metropolitan Education (DME) Law School, Noida, accredited with NAAC A+ and affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, is delighted to announce its upcoming International Conference on Intersections of Traditional Knowledge Systems and the Future: Law, Culture, Sustainability, and Collective Well-Being.

The conference will be held in hybrid mode (online and offline) on 8th & 9th May 2026 (Friday and Saturday).

About the Conference:

Traditional Knowledge Systems (TKS) represent historically evolved bodies of knowledge, practices, and innovations developed by indigenous peoples and local communities. These systems span domains such as medicine, agriculture, biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, craftsmanship, and ethical governance.

The conference seeks to explore the socio-legal, cultural, and sustainability dimensions of TKS, with a comparative global focus and particular attention to Indian Knowledge Systems. It will bring together academicians, researchers, professionals, and students to deliberate on pressing issues of law, culture, and governance in the context of traditional knowledge.

  1. Historical Perspectives of Traditional Knowledge Systems – oral traditions, folklore, colonialism, and revival movements.
  2. Power, Inequality, and Knowledge Systems – caste, class, gender, politics of recognition, and changing livelihoods.
  3. Social Institutions, Education, and the Future of TKS – NEP 2020, pedagogy, multilingual education, and digital transmission.
  4. Healing Systems Across the Globe – Ayurveda, Yoga, ethnomedicine, regulation, and public health governance.
  5. Climate Change and Traditional Knowledge – sustainability, SDGs, ESG frameworks, and community-led biodiversity governance.
  6. Legal Frameworks of TKS – bio-piracy, biodiversity governance, ABS, indigenous rights, and transnational disputes.
