About the University Institute of Laws (UIL), PURC, Ludhiana:

Established in the academic session 2003–04 at the campus of P.U. Extension Library, Ludhiana, the University Institute of Laws (UIL), Panjab University Regional Centre (PURC), Ludhiana has consistently pursued excellence in legal education and research. Under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk, Director, UIL offers:

• LL.M (1 Year)
• LL.B (3 Year)
• B.A. LL.B (Hons.) (5 Year Integrated Course)

Beyond academics, UIL nurtures leadership and holistic development through literary, debating, cultural, entrepreneurial, and recreational activities. To further its mission, UIL launched the Annual Journal of Law, a platform for scholars, academicians, researchers, and professionals worldwide to exchange ideas and promote problem‑solving capabilities.

About the Journal of Law:

The Journal of Law is a peer‑reviewed/refereed annual publication of UIL, PURC, Ludhiana. It provides a forum for legal practitioners, professionals, researchers, and academicians to critically engage with contemporary legal issues, refine writing and citation skills, and contribute to the advancement of legal pedagogy.

Special Edition Theme (2026):

“Reimagining Child Rights in the 21st Century: Protection, Participation, and Policy Reform”

Objective:

Children, as the most vulnerable yet vital section of society, deserve special care and protection under national and international frameworks. Despite progressive legislations such as the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, the POCSO Act, 2012, and the Right to Education Act, 2009, challenges persist in enforcement and access to justice.

Emerging threats in the 21st century—digital exploitation, trafficking, child labour, environmental displacement, and inequality in education—demand renewed academic and policy engagement. This Special Edition seeks to:

• Revisit and reformulate child rights discourse.
• Bridge the gap between legislation and implementation.
• Encourage research that identifies systemic challenges and proposes forward‑looking reforms.

The issue aims to foster dialogue on children’s protection, participation, autonomy, and empowerment, contributing meaningfully to national and international discussions on child rights.

• Child Labour and Economic Exploitation: Enforcement Challenges
• Right to Education and Equal Access in the Digital Era
• Children and the Digital World: Privacy, Protection, and Consent

• Juvenile Justice and Restorative Approaches to Reform
• Child Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation: Enforcement of POCSO
• Climate Change, Displacement, and Child Rights
• Media Ethics and Representation of Children
• Comparative and International Perspectives on Child Rights

Submission Guidelines:

• Format: Original, unpublished submissions in .doc format.
• Cover Letter: Must include author’s full name, designation, institutional affiliation, contact details, title of paper, declaration of originality, and plagiarism report (<10% similarity index).
• Anonymity: No identifying details in the manuscript.
• Categories & Word Limits:
  • Long Articles: 4000–5000 words
  • Short Notes: 3000–4000 words
  • Case/Legislative Comments: 1500–3000 words
  • Book Reviews: 1000–2000 words
• Abstract: ≤250 words with up to 6 keywords.
• Co‑Authorship: Maximum of two authors.
• Formatting:
  • Title: Times New Roman, 16, Bold, Capitalized
  • Headings: Centre aligned, Bold, 14, Roman numbering
  • Subheadings: Justified, Bold, 12
  • Main Text: Times New Roman, 12, Line spacing 1.5
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10, Line spacing 1
  • Citations: As per Indian Law Institute format
• Review: All submissions undergo peer review; editorial decisions are final.
