About the Journal

The Comparative Constitutional Law and Administrative Law Journal (CALJ) is the flagship publication of the Centre for Constitutional Law and Administrative Law at NLUJ. Published under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur and guided by Dr. Sayantani Bagchi, CALJ is dedicated to promoting scholarly excellence in constitutional and administrative law. The journal follows a rigorous peer‑review process and publishes Articles, Notes, Case Comments, and Book Reviews addressing contemporary issues in public law.

Themes

Submissions are invited on constitutional and administrative law from Indian, comparative, transnational, and global perspectives. Contributions may adopt doctrinal, theoretical, empirical, historical, or interdisciplinary approaches. Suggested themes include:

  • Constitutionalism and governance
  • Rights and institutions
  • Judicial review and democratic accountability
  • Public law and administrative frameworks

Submission Categories

  • Articles: Up to 8,000 words
  • Notes: Up to 4,000 words
  • Case Comments: Up to 2,000 words
  • Book Reviews: Up to 2,000 words All submissions must include an abstract of not more than 350 words.

Submission Guidelines

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Maximum of two authors per manuscript; co‑authorship not permitted for Case Comments and Book Reviews.
  • Similarity index must not exceed 10%.
  • Generative AI usage capped at 30% (only for idea generation, language improvement, or literature classification). Disclosure of AI use is mandatory before the abstract.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in .doc/.docx format, anonymized, and titled as: Submission_Volume 10 Issue II [Category].
  • Language: British English.
  • Citation style: OSCOLA (footnotes only, no speaking footnotes).
  • Formatting: Garamond font; 12 pt main text, 10 pt footnotes; 1.5 line spacing in text, 1.0 in footnotes; justified alignment.
