About the Conference:

The Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh, is hosting a National Conference-Cum-Workshop on “Contemporary Constitutional Challenges in India: Celebrating 76 Years of the Indian Constitution.”

This academic gathering commemorates the enduring legacy of the Indian Constitution, adopted on 26th January 1950, and explores how it continues to evolve in response to social, political, and technological transformations.

The conference will provide a rigorous platform for academicians, practitioners, researchers, and students to deliberate on pressing constitutional issues, including digital governance, privacy, gender justice, institutional accountability, and transformative constitutionalism.

Themes and Sub-Themes:

Participants are invited to submit papers on the following themes:

  • Constitutional morality and ethical governance
  • Transformative constitutionalism
  • Right to be forgotten
  • Rights of women under Article 21
  • Digital rights and right to internet
  • Recognition of transgender rights
  • Rights of animals under the Constitution
  • Judicial activism vs judicial overreach
  • Constitutional amendments and flexibility
  • Transparency and accountability
  • Privacy and digital rights
  • Emergency powers and civil liberties
  • Constitutional responses to pandemics and crises
  • Changing notions of constitutional morality

Other relevant sub-themes may also be proposed.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Co-authorship: Up to two authors permitted per paper.
  • Abstract Deadline: 28th March 2026 (100–150 words).
  • Final Paper Deadline: 30th March 2026, 08:00 p.m. IST.
  • Word Limit: 3,000–4,000 words.
  • Formatting: Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spacing, justified text.
  • Referencing Style: ILI format, Times New Roman, size 12, single spacing.
  • Language: English.
