Call for Applications: Supervisor – Litigation, Victim Advocacy Project (VAP):

About the Victim Advocacy Project (VAP):

The Victim Advocacy Project is a justice-focused initiative designed to strengthen victims’ access to the criminal justice system through structured legal representation and advocacy.

  • Provides continuous support from FIR to trial, appeal, and rehabilitation.
  • Aims to support 450+ victims of crime over three years.
  • Builds a trained cadre of Litigation Fellows and Paralegals.
  • Integrates field practice with research to generate evidence-based insights for legal reform.
  • Seeks to develop a scalable model of victim advocacy for replication across India.

Essential Requirements:

  • Updated knowledge of new criminal codes and special legislations.
  • Strong understanding of victim-centric criminal jurisprudence.
  • Experience in legal research, drafting, and pleadings.
  • Ability to supervise litigation work and coordinate with fellows/paralegals.
  • Experience in mentoring junior legal professionals.
  • High proficiency in English (written & spoken).
  • Strong organizational and case-management skills.
  • Commitment to ethical, trauma-informed, rights-based practice.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ prior work experience in related fields.
  • Experience with grassroots organisations or legal services authorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, AI tools, graphic design tools.
  • Skills in social media outreach.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Supervisor (Litigation) will:

  • Lead and oversee all litigation-related work under VAP.
  • Supervise and mentor Litigation Fellows and Paralegals.
  • Coordinate with community organisations and legal services authorities.
  • Implement victim-centric litigation strategies aligned with new laws.
  • Collaborate with legal institutions and curate mentors for fellows.
  • Conduct routine court visits across Delhi for case management.
  • Monitor case progress and maintain litigation records.
  • Act as a liaison between litigation team, project leadership, and the University.
  • Ensure adherence to professional standards, timelines, and objectives.
