The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab announces the Eighth Edition of the Sports & Entertainment Law Mediation Competition (SEMC), one of India’s premier student competitions in mediation and ADR practice.

About RGNUL Patiala:

Established under the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006, RGNUL is a national centre of excellence in legal education, fostering innovation and global perspectives in law.

About CADR:

The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) promotes research and student engagement in Arbitration, Negotiation, Mediation, and Conciliation. Its mission is to strengthen ADR mechanisms in India and provide a platform for budding professionals to develop dispute resolution skills.

About SEMC:

Since 2019, SEMC has been a flagship event in mediation practice, focusing on Sports and Entertainment Law. The competition brings together top law schools across India, offering participants the chance to refine soft skills, negotiation strategies, and commercial awareness.

Competition Format:

• Hybrid Mode:
  • Online Preliminary Rounds: 7–8 March 2026
  • Offline Advanced Rounds: 3–4 April 2026 at RGNUL Patiala campus
• Teams: Each team comprises a Client‑Counsel pair (Negotiating Team) and one Mediator.
• Universities may apply for more than one slot, subject to CADR’s discretion.

Eligibility:

• Open to full‑time law students enrolled in 3‑year or 5‑year courses for the academic year 2025–26.
• Not open to LL.M. students.

Registration Details:

• Provisional Registration Deadline: 12 February 2026 (11:59 p.m.) via Google Form.
• Final Registration: Confirmation mail with form and payment link will be sent to selected universities.
• Fee: ₹12,000 per team (exclusive of GST, non‑refundable).

Important Dates:

• 5 February 2026 – Release of Preliminary Problems
• 12 February 2026 – Last Date for Provisional Registration
• 15 February 2026 – Deadline for Clarifications
• 18 February 2026 – Release of Clarifications
• 7–8 March 2026 – Online Preliminary Rounds
• 10 March 2026 – Release of Advanced Problems
• 15 March 2026 – Deadline for Clarifications
• 3–4 April 2026 – Advanced Offline Rounds
