About the Seminar:

Study the theory of constitutional negotiation, writing, and design, and become skilled in using the first constitution-writing software, Quill, with world-renowned comparative constitutionalists and historians before putting theory into practice by drafting a model Constitution–all within the fortressed walls of Oxford.

This seminar provides an intensive review to multi-party negotiations in a constitution-making context. Students will learn the theory of
deliberative democracy, multi-party negotiations, constitution making and constitutional design before putting it all into practice in a simulated constitutional convention writing the Armenian constitution.

  • Payment: $3,300 inclusive of room, board, and tuition

About Oxford Summer Seminar in Constitutional Process and Design:

Study the theory of constitutional negotiation, writing, and design, and become skilled in using the first constitution-writing software, Quill, with world-renowned comparative constitutionalists and historians before putting theory into practice by drafting a model Constitution–all within the fortressed walls of Oxford. 

Application Instructions:

  • All application materials must be submitted with the online application form(s). Materials sent by postal mail, electronic mail, or fax are not considered.
  • The maximum allowable file size for upload is 2MB per file and the acceptable file formats are PDF, JPG, and JPEG. Ensure all security features (e.g. passwords and encryption) are removed from the documents before uploading them.
  • Applications cannot be edited after submission. Please submit your application only when it is 100% final and complete.

  • Applications submitted after deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • James Melton, Tom Ginsburg, and Zachary Elkins, The Endurance of National Constitutions

Scholarships:

There are a limited number of full or partial scholarships available, especially for those participants coming from countries broaching constitutional transitions, including but not limited to Armenia, Bangladesh, Chile, Guinea, Israel, and Yemen.
