Panjab University invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. programmes in Law, Sociology, and Economics for the academic session 2026–27 (September Cycle). The admission process is governed by PU rules and regulations, with equal distribution of seats across cycles during 2026–27.

Application Process

  • Submission: Candidates must submit their Ph.D. application forms to the office of the Director by hand/Registered Post/Speed Post.
  • Soft Copy: A complete application must also be emailed to phduils@gmail.com on or before 16 September 2026 (4:00 PM).

Documents Required (Self‑Attested Copies)

  1. Proof of qualifying examination (Ph.D. Entrance Test conducted by PU in the past 3 years/UGC‑NET/JRF).
  2. All DMCs from Matriculation onwards.
  3. Details of Scholarship/Fellowship, if any.
  4. Copy of Aadhaar Card.
  5. Contact number and valid email ID.
  6. Research Proposal (not exceeding 1500 words).

Research Proposal Guidelines

Applicants must submit a research proposal along with the application form. The proposal should include:

  • Area of research & tentative title
  • Introduction
  • Review of literature
  • Research gaps
  • Research problem & questions
  • Hypothesis
  • Objectives
  • Methodology
  • References

Final research area will be decided post‑admission in consultation with the allotted supervisor.

Assessment & Selection

  • Evaluation based on Written Research Proposal, Presentation, and Interview.
  • Applicants must prepare a PowerPoint presentation (8–10 slides).
  • Interview Date: 24 September 2026.
  • Selected candidates will be informed within one week of the interview.
