Ph.D. Admission Notice – UILS, Panjab University (January Circle 2026)

The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University invites applications for Ph.D. admissions in the January Circle 2026. Interviews will be conducted on 9th February 2026 at 11:00 a.m. for the following disciplines:

• Law
• Sociology
• Economics

Application Submission:

• Candidates must submit their Ph.D. application forms to the Office of the Director, UILS by hand/Registered Post/Speed Post.
• A soft copy of the complete application must also be emailed to phduils@gmail.com on or before 7th February 2026 (by 4:00 p.m.).

Documents Required (Self‑Attested Copies):

1. Proof of qualifying examination (Ph.D. Entrance Test conducted by Panjab University in the past 3 years / UGC‑NET / JRF).
2. All DMCs (Detailed Marks Certificates) from Matriculation onwards.
3. Details of Scholarship/Fellowship, if any.
4. Copy of Aadhaar Card.
5. Contact number and valid email ID.

Research Proposal Guidelines:

Applicants must submit a Research Proposal (not exceeding 1500 words) along with the application form.

The proposal should include:

• Area of research & tentative title
• Introduction
• Review of literature
• Research gaps
• Research problem & questions
• Hypothesis
• Objectives
• Methodology
• References

The final research area will be finalized after admission, in consultation with the allotted Supervisor.

Assessment & Selection:

Applicants will be assessed on:

• Written Research Proposal
• PowerPoint Presentation (max. 8–10 slides)
• Interview performance

Important Note:

1. Eligible supervisors from Panjab University and its affiliated institutes may also apply for Ph.D. supervision with details of vacant seats by 7th February 2026.
2. Number of seats may vary depending on availability.
3. Selected candidates will be informed by the department within one week of the interview.
