Oxford Dharma Conference | All Souls College | University of Oxford | Submit Abstract by 10 July 2026

About the Conference

The Oxford Dharma Conference is annually hosted at All Souls College, University of Oxford. The Conference brings together scholars, policy practitioners, jurists, and institutional leaders to examine Dharma as a conceptual framework for ethical responsibility, social order, and institutional life across cultures and disciplines.

The inaugural 2025 Conference received submissions from more than 400 scholars representing over 330 institutions worldwide. The 2026 edition seeks to deepen these conversations through sustained engagement on the relationship between Dharma and contemporary questions in law, governance, applied ethics, systems theory, community life, and the arts.

Contributions are invited from faculty members, scholars, policymakers, and independent researchers whose work engages with the conference themes.

Intellectual Orientation

The Conference approaches Dharma as a conceptual framework for examining the principles through which societies, institutions, and systems sustain legitimacy, continuity, and normative order across time. Dharma is approached as a mode of reasoning — concerned with how roles, obligations, and structures are aligned within larger systems of order, and how such systems maintain coherence amidst social, political, technological, and ecological transformation.
