What Is Department of Law, Aliah University, Calcutta?

Aliah University– a State University under the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Government of West Bengal – came into existence through the Aliah University Act (Act XXVII of 2007) passed by the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. The Department of Law was started in 2013. The Department is aimed to provide higher Legal education with the overall grooming of the students.  The post-graduation degree in law helps students better understand any dispute’s constitutional and jurisprudential aspects and provides profound clarity on the legal procedure. The Department offers Master of Law (LL.M.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) courses currently. There are 40 seats in the LL.M. course.
