About NUSRL Ranchi:

The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, established under the 2010 Act of the Jharkhand Government, is a premier institution dedicated to imparting world-class legal education. With Hon’ble Mr. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, as Chancellor, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as Visitor, the university enjoys strong judicial leadership.

NUSRL offers B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., Ph.D., and postgraduate diploma courses. Its alumni serve as judges, law officers, and practicing advocates across India. The university emphasizes specialized courses in criminal law, corporate law, IPR, forensic science, and more, supported by distinguished faculty with global academic exposure.

About the Ministry of Consumer Affairs:

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, established in 1986, plays a pivotal role in safeguarding consumer rights. It works with regulatory bodies like FSSAI and BIS, industry associations such as CII and FICCI, and NGOs to ensure consumer protection, product safety, and efficient dispute resolution. Its mission is to empower consumers through education, awareness, and robust legal frameworks.

Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP):

Established at NUSRL Ranchi in October 2024, the CCRP acts as a think tank for consumer law research and policy.

  • Vision: Protecting consumer rights through awareness, grievance redressal, and stakeholder involvement.
  • Mission: Empowering consumers against unfair trade practices with effective redressal mechanisms.
  • Objectives: Promoting research and training in consumer law across sectors like e-commerce, health, finance, transport, insurance, and airlines, aligned with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

About the Moot Court Competition:

The 2nd National Moot Court Competition on Consumer Protection Laws is a prestigious national event designed to sharpen participants’ understanding of consumer law.

  • Focus areas include consumer rights, unfair trade practices, misleading advertisements, product defects, and e-commerce regulation.
  • Participants will engage in legal research, memorial drafting, and oral advocacy, tackling real-world consumer law challenges.
  • The competition fosters academic excellence, critical thinking, teamwork, and professional development among law students nationwide.
