3rd National Intellectual Property Article Writing Competition, 2026
The Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (CIIPR) at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, in collaboration with S.S. Rana & Co., proudly announces the 3rd National Intellectual Property Article Writing Competition, 2026.
Building on the success of its previous two editions, which attracted over 150 submissions each from students and young researchers nationwide, this competition continues to foster critical research and innovative thinking on contemporary issues in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
About the Competition
The initiative seeks to:
- Encourage substantive engagement with emerging developments in IPR.
- Promote innovative scholarship and critical analysis.
- Provide opportunities for publication, recognition, cash prizes, and internships.
Competition Format
- Registration is mandatory.
- Participants must submit a final draft of 2,500–3,000 words (inclusive of abstract, exclusive of footnotes).
- Abstract length: 200–250 words.
- Evaluation: Two‑stage double‑blind review (technical screening + peer review).
- Shortlisted entries: Virtual paper presentation before expert assessors.
Suggested Themes
Participants may select from the following indicative themes or propose any topic within the broader scope of IPR:
- Patent Exhaustion and Post‑Sale Control in Repair and Emerging Areas
- Copyright, Computational Learning, and Permissible Use in Training Large Language Models
- Trademark Protection of Product Appearance After Expiry of Design Rights
- Geographical Indications, Tribal Displacement, and Community‑Based Product Identity
- Trans‑border Reputation and Territorial Limits of Trademark Protection in the Global Digital Marketplace
Eligibility
- Open exclusively to undergraduate students.
- Cross‑institutional teams permitted.
- Maximum of two authors per submission.

- Registration Opens: 26 August 2026
- Registration Deadline: 18 September 2026
- Submission Deadline: 28 September 2026
- Virtual Paper Presentation: 24 October 2026
Registration Fee
- Single Author: ₹400 + GST
- Co‑authorship: ₹600 + GST
- RGNUL Student + Co‑author (different institute): ₹700 + GST
- RGNUL Students (single/co‑authorship): ₹300 + GST
Awards and Prizes
- 1st Prize: ₹15,000
- 2nd Prize: ₹10,000
- 3rd Prize: ₹6,000

- Top 10 articles published in the CIIPR Journal/Book and on the CIIPR website.
