Conference Theme

Balancing the Scales: A Critical Analysis of India’s Four Labour Codes

India’s labour law regime has undergone its most significant transformation in over seven decades. Twenty-nine central labour statutes have been consolidated into four comprehensive Labour Codes:

• Code on Wages, 2019
• Industrial Relations Code, 2020
• Code on Social Security, 2020
• Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020

The conference seeks to critically examine whether these reforms genuinely balance economic growth with worker welfare. While the government emphasizes simplification, compliance ease, and expanded protections (including for gig and platform workers), critics highlight concerns such as weakened job security, stringent strike thresholds, and diluted workplace safety obligations.

This dialogue will situate the Codes within constitutional guarantees, international labour standards, and federalism concerns, aiming to generate nuanced scholarship rather than binary verdicts.

Submission Guidelines

• Abstracts: 300–400 words, with 5 keywords. Title page must include author details. Submission in MS Word format only.
• Full Papers: 4,000–5,000 words, Bluebook 20th edition citation style, footnotes only. Similarity index ≤ 10%. Turnitin report mandatory.
• Formatting: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 spacing (body); 10 pt, single spacing (footnotes).

Presentation & Publication

• Offline presentations before expert panels.
• Certificates for all presenters.
• Selected papers to be published in SCOPUS Indexed Journals or in an edited book with ISBN/peer-reviewed journal with ISSN.

Registration & Fee Structure

• IFHE Students: ₹300
• Other College/University Students: ₹1200
• Research Scholars/Academicians/Professionals: ₹1500
