5th KL Memorial Inter‑University Moot Court Competition, 2026:
The Society for Debating and Mooting (SDM) at KLEF College of Law warmly invites law students from across India to participate in the Fifth KL Memorial Inter‑University Moot Court Competition, 2026.
This prestigious event offers an excellent platform to:
- Showcase advocacy, oratory, and research skills
- Simulate real courtroom proceedings
- Gain valuable experience in legal writing and oral arguments
- Interact with peers, academicians, and practitioners
The competition will be judged by experienced faculty, lawyers, and judges, ensuring fairness, transparency, and constructive feedback.
About KL University & College of Law:
- KL University: Established in 1980, declared a Deemed to be University in 2009, accredited with NAAC A++ Grade, and recognized as a Category I Institution by UGC.
- KLEF College of Law: Founded in 2015–16 with Bar Council of India approval. Offers 5‑Year Integrated B.BA LL.B and Ph.D. programmes.
- Known for experiential learning through moots, mock trials, legal aid clinics, and debates.
- Curriculum shaped by eminent legal experts including Prof. R. Venkata Rao, Prof. Madabhushi Sridhar, and Justice K. G. Shankar (Retd.).
About the Competition:
The Fifth KL Memorial Moot Court Competition continues the legacy of excellence, challenging participants with:
- Complex moot propositions of contemporary relevance
- Rigorous evaluation standards
- Professional adjudication by academicians and legal experts
It tests not only legal knowledge but also strategic thinking, courtroom ethics, clarity of argument, and persuasive advocacy.
Important Dates:
- 15 March 2026 – Last date for clarifications
- 16 March 2026 – Publication of clarifications
- 22 March 2026 – Last date of registration
- 27 March 2026 – Inaugural Ceremony & Draw of Lots
- 27 March 2026 – Last date for soft copy of memorials
- 02 April 2026 – Last date for hard copy of memorials
- 03 April 2026– Preliminary Rounds, Researchers’ Test & Memorial Exchange
- 04 April 2026 – Octa‑finals, Quarter‑finals & Semi‑finals
- 05 April 2026 – Final Round & Valedictory Ceremony
Team Composition:
- Teams of 2 or 3 members (two speakers + one researcher).
- Strict anonymity maintained; team codes allotted after registration.
- Dress code: Formal black & white attire as per Advocates Act, 1961.
Memorial Guidelines:
- Petitioner memorial: Blue cover | Respondent memorial: Red cover
- Format: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 spacing; footnotes 10 pt, single spacing.
- Must follow Bluebook 22nd Edition (2025) citation style.
- Contents include: Cover Page, TOC, Index of Authorities, Jurisdiction, Facts, Issues, Summary of Arguments, Pleadings, Prayers.
- Deadline: 27 March 2026 (soft copy) & 02 April 2026 (hard copy).

Oral Arguments (50 marks)
- Presentation of facts (5) | Identification of issues (5) | Originality & application of law (15) | Depth of research (5) | Case citations (5) | Response to questions (10) | Court etiquette (5)
Rounds Structure:
- Preliminary Rounds – 25 minutes per team
- Octa‑Finals – 25 minutes per team
- Quarter‑Finals – 30 minutes per team
- Semi‑Finals – 40 minutes per team
- Finals – 45 minutes per team
