  • NAAC Accreditation 2025: A+

About the Competition:

The NUJS Judgment Writing Competition (JWC) is designed to immerse participants in the judicial decision-making process, with a special focus on constitutional adjudication. Unlike conventional academic contests, JWC simulates the role of judges deciding complex constitutional disputes.

Competition Format:

  • Preliminary Online Round:
Participants draft judgments on a single-issue, legally ambiguous constitutional problem. Submissions are assessed on reasoning, structure, and creativity by the Board of Editors.
  • Final Rounds (Offline at NUJS):
Shortlisted candidates will convene at the NUJS campus, sitting as a judicial bench to decide a multi-issue constitutional case. They will hear live submissions from counsels, deliberate collectively, and author a judgment reflecting judicial consistency and constitutional values.

About the Juridical Conclave:

The 1st Juridical Conclave complements the competition as an academic forum for dialogue on constitutional law, judicial ethics, and adjudicatory responsibilities.

  • Role of judges in a constitutional democracy
  • Essentials of well-reasoned judicial decisions
