Internship Opportunity – Human Rights Research, Monitoring & Documentation

The Observatory on Non‑Discrimination and Human Rights invites applications for its remote, part‑time internship programme designed to provide practical exposure to human rights research, monitoring, and documentation.

About the Observatory

The Observatory is a regional initiative dedicated to monitoring human rights developments, documenting cases of discrimination, and conducting evidence‑based research for advocacy. It works with national, regional, and international sources to strengthen accountability and promote equality.

About the Internship

The internship offers hands‑on experience in:

  • Human rights research and open‑source monitoring.
  • Case documentation and verification.
  • Regional human rights analysis.
  • Evidence‑based advocacy.

Interns will work closely with the Observatory’s research and monitoring team, contributing to real projects and developing professional skills in monitoring and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor human rights developments and cases relevant to non‑discrimination.
  • Conduct desk research using reliable national, regional, and international sources.
  • Collect and organise information on discrimination and human rights violations.
  • Assist in verifying information through multiple sources.
  • Support preparation of case documentation and timelines.
  • Track legislation, judicial decisions, public policies, and official statements.
  • Contribute to the Observatory’s internal database.
  • Assist in preparing briefings, reports, and human‑rights updates.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends requiring further research.
  • Monitor developments after initial case documentation.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from students and recent graduates in:

  • Law
  • Human Rights
  • Political Science
  • International Relations
  • Sociology
  • Journalism
  • Social Sciences
  • Or related fields

Previous experience is not required.

Language Requirements

  • Arabic: Excellent proficiency
  • English: Good working proficiency
  • French: Advantageous
