About the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme:

The NITI Aayog, India’s apex public policy think tank, runs a formal internship program designed to provide short-term exposure to students and scholars. Interns work with different verticals, divisions, and cells of NITI Aayog, contributing to policy inputs, empirical analysis, briefing reports, and policy papers. This initiative allows young talent to understand the functioning of the Government of India and its developmental policy framework while also contributing meaningfully to governance.

If you are a law student or young researcher looking to gain first-hand exposure to public policy and governance, the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme offers a structured and prestigious opportunity. Applications are accepted online every month, and the program is open to students from law, social sciences, economics, and related disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Undergraduate students: Must have completed/appeared in the 2nd year (4th semester) of their degree and secured at least 85% marks in Class XII.
  • Postgraduate students: Must have completed/appeared in the 1st year (2nd semester) of their program and secured at least 70% marks in graduation.
  • Research scholars/PhD candidates: Eligible if enrolled in recognized institutions in India or abroad.
  • Recent graduates: Those who have completed their degree and are awaiting admission to higher studies may also apply, provided the gap between results and internship start date does not exceed six months.

Duration of the Internship:

  • Minimum: 6 weeks
  • Maximum: 6 months
  • Interns who do not complete the minimum duration will not receive a certificate.

  • Public Finance & Policy Analysis

Certification:

  • A certificate is issued only upon successful completion of the internship.
  • Interns are expected to maintain high standards of integrity, discipline, and confidentiality during their tenure.
