About Internship:

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) invites applications for its structured internship programme designed to familiarize students of Economics, Law, Management, Finance, and Regulatory Governance with the provisions of the Competition Act, 2002 and its practical applications.

This internship is an academic engagement and not a job or assurance of employment with the Commission.

Objectives:

  • To provide exposure to the working of the Competition Act, 2002.
  • To engage students in research and practical assignments under the supervision of CCI officers.
  • To encourage academic contributions in the field of competition law and policy.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to Indian nationals only.
  • Students from recognized institutions/universities with exposure to competition law.
  • Applicants with a placement in hand are not eligible.

Educational Qualifications:

Students pursuing the following courses may apply:

  • Economics & Management: MA/MSc (Economics), MBA, 4th & final year of 5‑year integrated Economics programme.
  • Law: 2nd & 3rd year of 3‑year LL.B., 4th & final year of 5‑year integrated LL.B., LL.M. students.
  • Regulatory Governance: MA/MSc (Regulatory Governance).
  • Professional Courses: Final group students of Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, or Company Secretary.

Scheme of Internship:

  • Duration: Normally 1 month, commencing on the 1st working day.
  • Extended internships (2–3 months) possible with institutional recommendation.
  • Induction programme on the Competition Act, 2002 on Day 1.
  • Interns deputed to various divisions in batches.
  • Presentation required at the end of internship; failing which no certificate or stipend will be issued.
  • Up to 15 interns per month (flexible for strong research topics).
  • Internship is full‑time; adherence to working hours is mandatory.

Honorarium:

  • ₹15,000 per month (subject to satisfactory performance and completion).

Application Process:

  • Apply in the prescribed format only (Annexure).
  • Must include recommendation from competent authority of academic institution.
  • Submit a Statement of Purpose (200 words) outlining topic and objectives.
  • Applications must reach by the 1st of the preceding month (e.g., for December, apply by 1st November).

Other Modalities:

  • Interns provided with office space, intercom, and computer facilities.
  • Access to CCI library.
  • Undertaking required:
    • No job placement in hand.
    • Maintain confidentiality of CCI information.
  • Intellectual property of internship work remains with CCI.
  • Chairperson, CCI, may relax requirements in exceptional cases.

Certification:

  • Certificates issued only upon successful completion of internship and presentation.
  • Recommendation from institution mandatory.
