International Research Conference | Rule of Law in Context | Symbiosis Law School Pune | Submit Abstract by 20th August 2026
Symbiosis Law School, Pune, in association with its sister institutions at Hyderabad, Nagpur, and Noida, is hosting the 14th Annual International Research Conference on Rule of Law in Context (SYMROLIC 2026). Scheduled for 18th–19th September 2026, the conference will be held at Symbiosis Law School, Pune, with hybrid participation available for international and remote delegates.
Symbiosis International University (SIU), established in 1971, is a multi-disciplinary institution embodying the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (“World as One Family”). With campuses across India and Dubai, SIU hosts students from over 85 countries. It has been awarded Category-I status by UGC, an A++ grade by NAAC, and is ranked in the QS World University Rankings 2026 (655–696 band) and Times Higher Education Asia Rankings 2025 (251–300 band).
Founded in 1977, Symbiosis Law School, Pune (SLS Pune) is a premier institution consistently ranked among the top law schools in India. It offers integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.B., LL.M. (with 12 specialisations), and from 2026–27, B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.). The school has received international recognition through Jean Monnet Chair & Module grants, DAAD-SDG initiatives, and significant funding for prison advocacy projects.
The Symbiosis Centre for Advanced Legal Studies and Research (SCALSAR), established formally in 2013, is the research hub of SIU. It hosts interdisciplinary projects, government consultations, and international collaborations. SCALSAR has received prestigious EU project grants and has contributed to a 26.48% increase in Scopus-indexed publications in 2025–26. Its thrust areas include AI and Law, Climate Change Policy, Biotechnology and IPR, Human Rights, Cybersecurity, and International Comparative Law.

The conference will deliberate on how legal institutions can respond to geopolitical, environmental, technological, and governance challenges. A Plenary Session will address “Revisiting India’s Research and Innovation Landscape in Emerging Areas”, examining India’s evolving research ecosystem in light of global shifts.
