The DPIIT-IPR Chair and Centre for Innovation, Research and Facilitation (CIRF) of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, in collaboration with S.S. Rana & Co., proudly announce the CNLU-DPIIT-IPR National IP Moot Court Competition, 2026. This prestigious event marks the inaugural edition of a national-level moot dedicated to the evolving intersection of Copyright and Artificial Intelligence.

About CNLU:

About DPIIT-IPR Chair & CIRF:

The DPIIT–IPR Chair at CNLU was set up under the initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, to strengthen academic engagement, policy research, and outreach in Intellectual Property Rights.
The Centre for Innovation, Research and Facilitation (CIRF) is CNLU’s flagship research hub, fostering innovation, interdisciplinary scholarship, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer.

About the Competition:

The 1st National IP Moot Court Competition (2025–26) focuses on the contemporary theme of Copyright and AI, immersing participants in debates around AI-generated works, authorship, technological creativity, and emerging copyright liabilities in the digital age.

  • Eligibility: Open to students pursuing a 3-Year LL.B. or 5-Year Integrated LL.B. from any recognised university/college in India. Each team must consist of three members (two speakers and one researcher). Multiple teams from one institution are allowed.
  • Mode: Hybrid
    • 1st February 2026: Inaugural & Preliminary Rounds (Online)
    • 2nd February 2026: Quarter-finals & Semi-finals (Online)
    • 15th February 2026: Final Round (Offline at CNLU, Patna)
  • Theme: Copyright and Artificial Intelligence

Registration:

Teams can register by filling out the official Google form and paying the registration fee of ₹4,000. Upon successful registration, each team will be allotted a unique team code.
