About the Programme

The National Law University Delhi (NLUD) announces the International Investment Arbitration Certificate Course 2026, a five‑month hybrid programme commencing on 11 July 2026. This initiative is designed to strengthen India’s institutional and professional capacity in the fields of international commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration, equipping participants with both theoretical foundations and practical skills to address complex cross‑border disputes.

The course is conducted under the Chair on Investment Treaties and International Commercial Arbitration, patronised by Justice Indu Malhotra and chaired by Mr. V.K. Rajah, Vice President of the ICC Court of Arbitration. It represents NLUD’s continuing commitment to advancing legal education and fostering excellence in dispute resolution.

Objectives

• To provide comprehensive training in cross‑border commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration.
• To prepare government officials, lawyers, and academicians for effective participation in investor–state dispute settlement (ISDS).
• To address contemporary challenges including sunset clauses, evolving bilateral investment treaty frameworks, and global best practices.
• To integrate academic rigour with practical exposure through lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions led by eminent experts.

Structure and Assessment

• Part A: International Commercial Arbitration – conceptual and practical insights into resolving cross‑border disputes.
• Part B: Investment Treaty Arbitration – legal frameworks governing BITs and dispute resolution under international investment law.
• Mode: Hybrid (30% in‑person, 70% online), conducted on weekends.
• Assessment: Continuous evaluation and end‑term examination.
• Attendance Requirement: Minimum 75%.

Eligibility and Fees

• Eligibility: Government officials, PSU employees, lawyers, academicians.
• Minimum Qualification: Graduation in any discipline with at least 50% marks.
