Call for Submissions for NLUD Journal of Legal Studies, Volume VIII. Submissions on Rolling Basis!

The National Law University Delhi (NLUD) Journal of Legal Studies is now inviting submissions for its upcoming Volume VIII, scheduled for publication in August 2026. Academics, practitioners, researchers, and students are encouraged to contribute original, unpublished works across diverse categories of legal scholarship.

About the Journal:

The NLUD Journal of Legal Studies (JLS) is the annual, student-edited, peer-reviewed law journal of National Law University, Delhi. It provides a platform for rigorous engagement with contemporary issues in domestic and international law and policy. The journal seeks to foster critical insights into pressing questions of law and society.

The previous edition, Volume VII, was launched in September 2025 by Honourable Justice B.V. Nagarathna. Building on its legacy, Volume VIII aims to continue advancing meaningful discourse in legal scholarship.

Categories of Submissions:

The Editorial Board welcomes contributions in the following formats:

  • Articles: 5,000 – 10,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Essays: 3,000 – 5,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Case Notes & Legislative Comments: 2,000 – 5,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Book Reviews: 2,000 – 3,000 words (inclusive of footnotes)

Note: Word limits include abstracts but exclude ancillary text such as tables of contents or bibliographies.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Themes: Submissions should address issues of contemporary relevance. Works engaging with foreign legal themes must also highlight their relevance in the Indian context.
  • Authorship: Co-authorship is permitted up to a maximum of three authors.
  • Formatting:
    • Font: Times New Roman, size 12
    • Line spacing: 1.5
    • Citation style: OSCOLA (4th Edition), footnotes only (no endnotes)
  • Originality: Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • AI Policy: Authors are prohibited from using AI tools for generating substantive content or citations. AI may only be used for proofreading or minor restructuring.
  • Plagiarism: All manuscripts will be checked using anti-plagiarism software. Any form of plagiarism will result in rejection.

How to Submit:

  • Submissions must be made electronically in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • Email your manuscript to nludjls@nludelhi.ac.in with the subject line: “Submission – JLS”.
  • The journal reviews manuscripts on a rolling basis. Authors may be asked to revise their work based on editorial feedback before final acceptance.

Rights & Licensing:

  • Upon submission, manuscripts become the property of National Law University, Delhi.
  • All works are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 Licence. Authors must credit the Journal of Legal Studies in any subsequent reproduction.
  • The University reserves the right to reproduce, publish, and distribute accepted papers across print and electronic media.
