About Harvard Art Law Review:

The Harvard Art Law Review is a publication of the Harvard Art Law Organization (HALO), a student group at Harvard Law School. It provides a forum for discussion and scholarship at the intersection of art, culture, and the law. 

Call for submissions:

The Harvard Art Law Review is now open to submissions for our Fall 2025 Issue.

Submission Categories:

  1. Academic Articles (by academics and practitioners)
    • 10,000 words
  2. Student Submissions
    • 2,000-5,000 words
  3. Notes: Similar to Articles in content and style.
  4. Comments: Should comment on recent court cases, events, or legislative developments and their wider implications for art law.

    KINDLY NOTE: Harvard Art Law Review accepts submissions from law students, with no geographic restriction, in any year of their legal studies. We also encourage doctoral students to submit. Authors of accepted pieces will work closely with our editors to prepare for publication.

Requirements:

  • The submission file must be a Microsoft Word file (.docx).
  • Single-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, with size 10-point Times New Roman footnotes.
  • Citations must be placed in footnotes and conform with 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬: 𝘈 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 (21st ed.).
  • All assertions should be cited.
  • Submissions must not have been previously published. Prior to submission, authors should not have committed to publishing their submitted articles with any other journal or archival venue.

Submission Deadline:

The submission deadline is November 7, 2025.

We strongly encourage submissions be made as early as possible during the submission window.
