University Institute of Law, PURC Ludhiana, established in 2003–04, offers LL.M, LL.B, and B.A. LL.B (Hons.) programmes. Under Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk’s leadership, it maintains high academic standards and professional outcomes. Students engage in diverse co-curricular and extracurricular activities to build leadership and life skills. The institute fosters legal scholarship through its annual publication, the Journal of Law. This journal invites global contributions to promote legal research, idea exchange, and problem-solving.

Journal of Law is an annual publication.
Journal of Law is a Peer-reviewed/ Refereed Journal and a remarkable initiative of the University Institute of Laws, PURC, Ludhiana. Journal of Law is an annual publication which provides an excellent way for legal practitioners, professionals, researchers and academicians to critically engage in current legal issues and to collaborate closely, to study the nuances of contemporary legal Pedagogy. The experience enhances writing, editing and citation-checking skills.

Who may Submit?

Submissions are invited from academicians, researchers and practitioners.

Theme:

Academicians, researchers and practitioners are invited to contribute in the form of Tributes, Articles, Case Comments, Book Reviews, Notes, Critical Evaluation of any Contemporaneous Legal Issues. The main focus of the Articles/Papers shall be the latest trends in the field of Law.

These could be but not limited to the following themes- Constitutional Law, Business Law, Law of Contract, Criminal Law, Corporate Law, ADR, Intellectual Property Law, Labour law Cyber Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights Law and any other contemporary legal issue.

The Journal is extremely useful to academicians, practitioners, researchers, scholars and students who are interested in the latest theoretical and practical advances and innovations in the field of Law and want to adapt to new legal trends.

Last date for submission:

All papers must be submitted before January 15, 2026 to below listed email address.

Submission Guidelines:

1. Authors are requested to send their original, unpublished submission in .doc format to purcl.journaloflaw@gmail.com
2. The submission must be accompanied by a separate covering letter bearing the following information:
   a) Full Name of the Author(s)
   b) Position/Designation (if applicable on all author(s))
   c) Institutional Affiliations (if any)
   d) Contact Details of the Author / Co-Author
   e) Title of the Paper
   f) Declaration of originality
   g) Author must submit a plagiarism report (below 10% similarity index) along with the submission otherwise the submission will be outrightly rejected.
3. The authors must not mention any relevant identification information on the body of the research paper such as their name, contact details, institutional affiliation (if any).
4. Submissions can be in the form of long articles, short notes, book reviews. The acceptable word limit should not exceed.
   a) Long Articles: 4000-5000 words
   b) Short Notes: 3000-4000 words
   c) Case Comments/Legislative Comments: 1500-3000 words
   d) Book Review: 1000-2000 words
   e) All the word limits mentioned above are exclusive of footnotes.
5. Kindly note that the word limits will be strictly enforced.
6. All the submissions must consist an Abstract of not more than 250 words. The abstract will not be included in the word limit.
7. The submission must be sent along with up to 6 keywords along with the abstract in the manuscript.
8. A submission can be co-authored by a maximum of two people.
9. In case, authors send more than one submission for consideration, only the first submission shall be reviewed for publication.

Formatting and Citation Guidelines:

1. An appropriate Title must be mentioned in the cover page of the submission. The Title should be font type- Times New Roman and font size-16.
2. The submission should not contain any biographical information of the author throughout the manuscript.
3. The body of the text must be submitted in font type- Times New Roman, font size- 12.
4. The footnotes must be font type- Time New Roman, font size 10.
5. The Line Spacing of the main text and footnotes must be 1.5 and 1 respectively.
6. Use of Headings and Subheadings is encouraged throughout the text-
   a) Title of paper-Capital, Bold, Font Size-16, Times New Roman
   b) Headings: Centre Aligned, Bold, and Font Size- 14, Font Type- Times New Roman, with Roman Numbering.
   c) Subheadings: Justified Alignment, Bold, Font Size – 12 and Font Type – Times New Roman.
   d) Foot notes and citations of research work are to be given as per the format of Indian Law Institute, in single space.
7. All submissions are subject to peer review and modification as per the journal style sheet.
8. The final decision of the Editorial Board, regarding publication of the article shall be final.
