About the Institute:

The DPIIT Chair on Intellectual Property Rights at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, is dedicated to advancing education, research, and policy engagement in the field of IPR. The initiative promotes awareness and capacity building through research projects, workshops, training programmes, and academic collaborations.

The Chair encourages innovation, responsible IP management, and industry–academia partnerships, while fostering policy‑oriented research. It provides a platform for students and scholars to explore contemporary challenges in IP acquisition, enforcement, and commercialisation.

About the Journal:

The Journal of Intellectual Property and Legal Studies (JIPLS) is an annual publication accepting submissions on a rolling basis. The journal aims to generate dialogue on pressing issues in intellectual property law, bridging policy gaps and facilitating exchange of ideas among academics, practitioners, and policymakers.

Theme:

Manuscripts must relate to Intellectual Property Law or allied fields such as Media Law and Technology Law.

Categories of Submission:

• Research Articles (3000–6000 words, excluding footnotes)
  In‑depth engagement with literature and practice, identification of gaps, and innovative reassessments. Theoretical contributions are welcome.
• Brief Research Articles (1500–3000 words, excluding footnotes)
  Concise analysis of specific issues, offering new perspectives and critical insights.
• Case Notes / Book Reviews (1200–2500 words, excluding footnotes)
  Analysis of judicial decisions, legislative developments, or policy proposals. Notes should trace case law evolution and implications; reviews should critically assess books or legislative/policy initiatives.

Note: Word limits are exclusive of footnotes. Flexibility may be allowed depending on quality.

General Guidelines:

• Abstract of 150 words with 5 keywords required.
• Maximum of two authors per submission.
• Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
• Plagiarism beyond 10% (UGC Academic Integrity Regulations, 2018) will lead to disqualification.
• AI‑generated content is not permitted.
• Authors are responsible for any disputes relating to copyright, defamation, or objectionable content.

Formatting Requirements:

• Language: English
• File type: Microsoft Word (.docx)
• Font: Times New Roman, 12‑point, 1.5 line spacing
• Headings: CAPITAL LETTERS
• Subheadings: Title Case, bold and underlined
• Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10‑point, single spacing
• Citation style: OSCOLA (4th edition)

The first page must contain the title, author(s), institutional affiliation(s), and abstract with keywords. The manuscript body should begin from the second page and be anonymised (no personal identifiers).

Submission Process:

All submissions must be accompanied by a covering letter stating the author’s name, title of the submission, and contact details. Manuscripts will be reviewed and edited by the Editorial Board under the supervision of the Editor‑in‑Chief.
