About the Journal

The Indian Arbitration Law Review (IALR) is an annual, double‑blind peer‑reviewed journal published by the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal. Founded by Mr. Prashant Mishra (Batch of 2005, NLIU), the journal is devoted exclusively to arbitration law. It is published by Eastern Book Company (EBC) and indexed on SCC Online and HeinOnline, making it a credible platform for scholarly contributions.

IALR publishes long articles, short articles, case comments, and book reviews, offering practitioners, academicians, and students an up‑to‑date review of arbitration law and practice.

About NLIU

Established in 1997 by Act No. 41 of the State Legislature, NLIU Bhopal is one of India’s premier law schools. Apart from imparting quality legal education, NLIU fosters a strong culture of research and critique. The university publishes multiple journals, including the Indian Law Review, NLIU Journal of Intellectual Property Law, NLIU Journal of Business Laws, and NLIU Law Review.

Sub‑Themes for Volume IX

IALR invites submissions on contemporary issues in arbitration law, including but not limited to:

  • Arbitrability of class action suits under Section 245 of the Companies Act, 2013.
  • Mandatory arbitration clauses in public company disclosures.
  • Relief under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, post‑award.
  • Impact of international economic sanctions on arbitration.
  • Government notifications restricting arbitration clauses in contracts.
  • ESG and climate‑related claims in arbitration.
  • Arbitrability of cryptocurrency and digital asset disputes.
  • Section 9 vs. emergency arbitration – interim relief architecture.
  • Indus Waters Treaty arbitration and its implications.
  • Use of AI in blockchain‑based arbitrations.

Categories for Submission

  • Long Articles: 4,000–8,000 words
  • Short Articles: 2,000–4,000 words
  • Case Comments: 1,500–4,000 words
  • Book Reviews: 1,000–3,000 words (Word limits exclusive of footnotes; relaxation up to 10% at Editorial Board’s discretion.)

Guidelines for Submission

  • Language: English only.
  • Abstract: ≤300 words (not required for case comments/book reviews).
  • Formatting: Times New Roman, 12‑point, 1.5 spacing; footnotes in Times New Roman, 10‑point, single spacing.
  • Citation Style: OSCOLA (5th Edition).
  • Co‑authorship: Permitted (no cap).
  • Manuscripts must be anonymised and original.
  • Submissions via Google Form.

Deadline

  • 15 November 2026, 11:59 PM IST (Submissions received after the deadline will be considered for Volume X.)

Evaluation Parameters

All manuscripts undergo plagiarism check and are assessed on:

  • Grammar and academic language.
  • Logical structure and coherence.
  • Contribution to existing literature.
  • Contemporary relevance.
  • Quality of referencing and research.
