About NLIU, Bhopal:

Established in 1997 by the Madhya Pradesh Legislature, the National Law Institute University (NLIU) strives to provide modern, multidisciplinary legal education. It was founded to address the inadequacies of traditional legal studies in India and to produce competent, socially responsible lawyers equipped to meet global challenges. By integrating academic excellence with national and humanitarian values, NLIU aims to strengthen India’s legal and administrative systems and contribute to the nation’s progress in a rapidly globalising world.

About Centre for Research in International Law:

The Centre for Research in International Law is a student run body at National Law Institute University, which was established with an aim to increase awareness of international law and policy among students. It seeks to ensure an active and inclusive atmosphere, in collaboration with various esteemed organizations wherein an interface between like-minded students and the extensive area of international law is created. Since its inception, CRIL has, in its endeavours to promote International law, organised several lectures, panel discussions and conferences. The Centre has had the opportunity of providing a platform to debate and discuss prevalent international issues with eminent personalities.

The NLIU-CRIL Journal of International Law and Policy is an annual double-blind peer reviewed Journal. It is a comprehensive publication that features articles covering a diverse array of themes in the field of international law. Its contents span from international criminal and humanitarian law to trade law and state responsibility. This journal serves as a valuable resource for academics, legal professionals, and policymakers interested in a wide range of international legal issues and global policy matters.

Themes:

NLIU-CRIL Journal of International Law and Policy welcomes submissions by everyone, including students, academicians, scholars, etc. The journal is dedicated to exploring contemporary and pertinent developments in the vast field of international law and policy. Its scope is both broad and inclusive, encompassing various domains, including:

  • PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL LAW
  • HUMAN RIGHTS LAW
  • PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW
  • INTERNATIONAL TRADE LAW
  • INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL LAW
  • INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL LAW
  • INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT LAW

Submission Requirements:

  • The manuscripts may be submitted in the following categories:
    • (a) Long Article: 5000 – 8000 words;
    • (b) Short Article: 3000 – 5000 words;
    • (c) Case Note / Case Study: 1500 – 3000 words;
    • (d) Book reviews: 1000 – 2000 words.
  • Co-authorship up to a maximum of two authors is permitted.
  • All manuscripts submitted must be original and unpublished.
  • Plagiarism of content as well as that of an idea would lead to a direct rejection of the manuscript. The author(s) of the manuscript bear the responsibility of authorities, facts, or views instated in the manuscript.
  • The Executive Board of CRIL may, at its sole discretion, allow for manuscripts which do not substantially deviate from the given word limits to be considered for publication.

Review Process:

  • Stage 1: Technical Review Stage by Turnitin (Manuscripts with more than 40% plagiarism are rejected). Manual Technical Review (Manuscripts with more than 10% plagiarism or 5 instances of plagiarism are rejected)
  • Stage 2: Content Review I
  • Stage 3: Content Review II
  • Stage 4: Peer Review

Submission Guidelines:

  • The submitted document must include an abstract of 250-300 words in the beginning, highlighting the structure and the essence of the manuscript. The abstract is exclusive of the word limit of the manuscript.
  • Title of the manuscript should be formatted to Times New Roman, Bold, Font Size 16, with 1.5 line spacing, all caps, and a center alignment.
  • The main body of the manuscript should be formatted to Times New Roman, Font Size 12, with 1.5 line spacing, have 1-inch margin on all sides, and a justified alignment.
  • The footnotes should be formatted to Times New Roman, Font Size 10, with 1.0 line spacing, and a justified alignment.
  • The footnotes must adhere to the standards of the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (4th ed., 2012) (OSCOLA 4th edition).
  • The authors are discouraged from using speaking or substantive footnotes.
  • Use of endnotes or hyperlinks would not be accepted.
