ABOUT THE JOURNAL OF LEGAL STUDIES

DNLU Journal of Legal Studies (DNLU-JLS) (ISSN: 3048-958X) is an initiative of Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur. DNLU-JLS is a flagship faculty-run, double-blind peer-reviewed law journal that aims to provide a unique forum for academicians, researchers, legal practitioners, and scholars to present their scholarly contributions.

The Journal seeks to publish high-quality research on legal studies spanning diverse areas, including comparative, international, and interdisciplinary perspectives. It is committed to promoting research, and legal writing while facilitating the dissemination of quality legal research to a wider audience. The Journal is well-positioned to contribute to legal discourse by publishing original and insightful scholarship from diverse legal backgrounds.

THEME

There are no rigid thematic constraints for this volume. The Editorial Board welcomes original and unpublished submissions on any area of law and legal studies that are of contemporary relevance. Submissions may adopt doctrinal, empirical, comparative, interdisciplinary, or policy-oriented approaches.

All submissions shall undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Only faculty members, and working professionals are entitled to submit articles for publication. However, students may also submit articles in collaboration with faculty member or working professional.
  • All submissions must be accompanied by an abstract of 300–350 words along with 4–5 keywords highlighting the theme of the research.
  • The similarity index of the manuscript should not exceed 10%.
  • The manuscript must be typed in Times New Roman, Font Size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, Font Size 10, with single-line spacing.
  • Footnoting and citations must conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th Edition).
  • Co-authorship is permitted for a maximum of two authors (the Editorial board  reserve the discretion on it). However, co-authorship is not permitted for Book Reviews and Case Commentaries.
  • All submissions should be accompanied by a covering letter mentioning:
    1. Title of the manuscript;
    1. Category of submission;
    1. Full name(s) of the author(s);
    1. Designation and institutional affiliation;
    1. Contact details and email address.
  • The manuscript must not contain any information revealing the identity of the author(s) to ensure anonymity during the review process.
  • The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The copyright of all accepted submissions shall vest with DNLU-JLS.
  • The author(s) must confirm there is no third-party rights infringement. Source verification may be requested for empirical/doctrinal works.
  • The Editorial Board shall acknowledge receipt of submissions. All manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer-review process, which may take approximately 6–8 weeks from the date of acknowledgement. Authors shall be required to incorporate reviewers’ suggestions, if any, before publication.
  • The final discretion for acceptance of paper lies with DNLU JLS Editorial Board.

The submission email must contain:

  • Manuscript in MS Word format (.doc/.docx);
  • Covering Letter containing author details.

Authors are advised to visit the Journal website for detailed publication policies, ethical standards, and previous volumes.

DEADLINE

Last Date for Submission: 5th August 2026

Submissions received after the deadline shall not be considered for publication.
