The Colombo Law Review 2026 is now accepting submissions until 22 June 2026. Manuscripts may be submitted under four categories—Law Review Articles, Commentaries, Case Reviews, and Book Reviews—with strict adherence to author guidelines and academic integrity standards.


About the Colombo Law Review:

The Colombo Law Review (CLR) is a flagship publication of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, dedicated to advancing legal scholarship in Sri Lanka and beyond. The journal invites contributions that engage critically with legal doctrine, policy, and reform, while situating discussions in both local and comparative contexts.


Categories of Submission:

Authors may submit manuscripts under the following categories:

  • Law Review Articles (5000–8000 words)
    Original arguments advancing legal theory, doctrine, policy, or reform.
  • Commentaries (1500–2000 words)
    Analytical perspectives on recent legal developments or scholarly debates.
  • Case Reviews (1500–2000 words)
    Critical assessments of judicial decisions, focusing on reasoning and implications.
  • Book Reviews (1500–2000 words)
    Evaluations of works of legal or interdisciplinary relevance, assessing scholarly contribution.

Author Guidelines (Key Highlights):

According to the official Author Guidelines:

  • Deadline: 22 June 2026
  • Submission Email: colombolawreview@law.cmb.ac.lk
  • Abstract: 250–300 words with up to 5 keywords
  • Anonymisation: Submit two versions (anonymised and full) for peer review
  • Originality: Manuscripts must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere
  • Formatting:
    • A4 size, 2.5 cm margins, double-spaced
    • Times New Roman (Title: 16pt bold; Headings: 14pt bold italic; Body: 12pt; Footnotes: 10pt)
    • File type: Microsoft Word (.docx)
    • Naming convention: AuthorSurname_ShortTitle_Date
  • Referencing: OSCOLA (4th edition) citation style
  • Academic Integrity: Strict adherence to ethical standards, disclosure of conflicts of interest, and declaration of GenAI use if applicable

Submission Process:

  • Manuscripts must be accompanied by the Author Declaration Form (Annex 1 in the guidelines).
  • The Editorial Board reserves the right to accept, reject, or request revisions.
  • Submissions should demonstrate relevance to Sri Lankan law or articulate the significance of foreign law to the Sri Lankan context.
