National Law University Delhi has announced applications for the position of Academic Fellow under the prestigious K.L. Arora Chair on Criminal Law. The fellowship offers a consolidated remuneration of ₹50,000 per month, with an initial one-year tenure (extendable), and the last date to apply is July 3, 2026.


About the Chair

The K.L. Arora Chair on Criminal Law was established at NLU Delhi by Justice D.P. Wadhwa (former Judge, Supreme Court of India) in memory of late Shri Kundan Lal Arora, Senior Advocate. The Chair aims to advance teaching, research, and advocacy in criminal law.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification:
    • LL.M. or relevant Master’s degree in Social Sciences (Criminology/Psychology) with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
    • For Social Sciences applicants, a demonstrable track record of interdisciplinary research involving law is required.
  • Skills & Experience:
    • Proficiency in criminal laws.
    • Prior research experience including field work and data collection is desirable.
    • Strong academic record and demonstrable research output.

  • Deadline: July 3, 2026.
  • Application Fee: ₹500 (non-refundable). SC/ST and PwD candidates are exempted.
  • Documents Required (PDF, single file):
    • Resume with academic details (LL.B., LL.M., publications).
    • Self-certified copies of UG & PG degrees with mark sheets.
    • Experience certificate (if applicable).
    • Statement of Purpose (750 words).
    • Proposed Research Plan (750 words).
    • Two references (one from current employer or academic institution).

Selection Process

  • Shortlisting based on application content.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
  • University reserves the right not to fill the position if suitable candidates are not found.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Promote research in criminal law and publish annually in the Chair’s journal.
  • Organize seminars and conferences of national/international importance.
  • Develop projects, curriculum, teaching methodology, and advocacy training.
  • Conduct training in criminal trial work.
  • Recommend candidates for the Gold Medal in Criminal Law.
  • Establish international collaborations for research and teaching.
  • Address pressing challenges such as cross-border terrorism, victimology, and criminal justice reforms.
