International Conference on Gender Discourses | Faculty of Law, University of Delhi | November 17 – 18, 2026
As India moves toward the goals of Viksit Bharat, its ancient intellectual tradition serves as a meaningful guide. It reminds us that building an inclusive and progressive society does not require a break from India ‘ s civilizational heritage; rather, it calls for a renewed engagement with its most considered understandings of gender, human capability, and social harmony. In this context, the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) offer a rich and layered understanding of gender, dignity, autonomy, education, family, justice and social order. Ancient Indian texts do not present a single uniform view of women and gender relations; rather, they reflect a dynamic intellectual tradition in which ideas of equality, capability, and harmony inform the norms. A close reading of primary texts reveals that women were envisioned not merely within domestic confines, but as participants in knowledge production, daily and ritual life, and legal frameworks.
The conference welcomes submissions from scholars, academicians, professionals, experts and students from diverse fields, including law, political science, sociology, economics and other social sciences.
