Call for Papers – MAGLAW Volume 5 Issue 2

MAGLAW, the bi-annual peer-reviewed and refereed journal of the Department of Laws, Panjab University, invites submissions for its upcoming Volume 5, Issue 2. Since its inception in 2017, MAGLAW has provided a platform for law students to publish original research, case notes, and legal opinions across diverse areas of law including constitutional law, criminal law, international law, intellectual property, and human rights.

The journal is managed by a student editorial board under the supervision of faculty members, ensuring rigorous review and high academic standards. Its mission is to encourage critical thinking, foster debate, and enhance legal scholarship by publishing original, unpublished, and well-researched contributions.

Themes & Sub-Themes

Authors may select one theme and a corresponding sub-theme:

  1. Women-Centric Legislation – Shield or Weapon?
    • Justice paradox: misuse vs. systemic barriers for victims
    • Judicial safeguards against misuse
    • Economic rights and alimony dilemma
  2. Judicial Reforms in the Last Decade
    • AI and technology in law: regulation and governance
    • Access to justice and procedural barriers
    • Specialised adjudication and jurisdictional conflicts
  3. Personality Rights in Modern Times
    • Commercialising identity: names, voices, brand value
    • Postmortem rights: AI, deepfakes, digital replicas
    • Need for codification and clear guidelines

Submission Deadlines

  • Abstract Submission: Till 30th August 2026, 11:50 PM
  • Manuscript Submission: Within 30 days of abstract selection results

Submissions must be made exclusively through the Open Journal System (OJS): MAGLAW OJS Portal

Conditions for Publication

  • Anonymity: No personal details in manuscripts; cover letter required separately.
  • AI Use: Strictly prohibited; AI similarity index must be 0%.
  • Plagiarism: Similarity index must not exceed 20%; Turnitin originality certificate mandatory.
  • Open Access: No publication or processing fee; all articles freely accessible.
  • Co-authorship: Maximum of two student authors; no professional co-authors.
  • Eligibility: Only bona fide students of LL.B., LL.M., or Ph.D. in law.
  • Exclusivity: Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.

Guidelines for Publication

  • Stage One – Abstract Submission: Max 200 words + 5 keywords, cover letter, and undertaking.
  • Stage Two – Manuscript Submission: Word limits –
    • Research Papers: 3,000–6,000 words
    • Case Notes: 2,500–3,000 words
    • Legal Opinions: 1,500–2,000 words
  • Formatting:
    • Font: Times New Roman, Size 12 (main text), 10 (footnotes)
    • Line spacing: 1.5 (main text), 1.0 (footnotes)
    • Citation Style: ILI Footnoting
    • Alignment: Headings left, content justified
    • British English mandatory
