Online Short‑Term Internship | NHRC | August 2026 | Stipend Rs. 2000 | Apply by 10th July 2026
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has announced its Online Short‑Term Internship Programme (OSTI) scheduled from 3rd to 14th August 2026. This initiative is designed to promote awareness and understanding of human rights among university students, in line with the Commission’s statutory mandate under Section 12(h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
The internship will be conducted in an online mode over two weeks, with sessions held from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. The curriculum comprises 40–45 lectures delivered by experts on diverse human rights issues. Interns will engage in interactive sessions with the Chairperson, Members, and senior officials of NHRC, participate in group projects, undertake book reviews, and attend screenings of films addressing pressing human rights concerns such as child labour, trafficking, health, and education. Virtual field visits to institutions including jails, police stations, NGOs, and shelter homes form an integral part of the programme.

Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks in Class XII and in the first four semesters of their graduation or integrated course. The maximum age limit is 28 years as on 1st July 2026. Students who have previously attended NHRC internship programmes are not eligible to apply.
Applications must be submitted online through the NHRC website or the NHRC India Mobile App by 10th July 2026, 6:00 PM IST. Submissions through email or post will not be accepted. The following documents are required in scanned PDF format (maximum size 2 MB):
Applicants must also submit a Statement of Purpose (250 words) on the theme “Why join NHRC OSTI?”, highlighting research potential, co‑curricular activities, internships, and moot court participation. Verification of mobile number and email address through OTP is mandatory prior to submission.
Interns will be assessed on punctuality, discipline, participation, and timely submission of assignments. Successful candidates will receive a stipend of ₹2000 and a certificate of participation. The programme offers valuable exposure to human rights discourse and institutional practices, fostering academic enrichment and professional development.
Incomplete applications or discrepancies in marks, CGPA, or percentage will result in rejection and disqualification from future programmes. Attendance in all sessions is compulsory, and leave applications will not be entertained. NHRC reserves the right to amend or cancel programme terms without prior notice.
