Internship Opportunity at the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA)
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, plays a pivotal role in ensuring access to justice for weaker sections of society by providing free legal services and organizing Lok Adalats for amicable dispute resolution.
To further its mission, NALSA offers a one‑month internship programme for law students across India, designed to provide hands‑on exposure to specialized areas of legal services and acquaint interns with the functioning of NALSA.
Eligibility
- Open to students pursuing a Three‑Year LL.B. Course or Five‑Year Integrated Law Course from recognized institutions.
- Preference is given to:
- 3rd to 5th year students of the Five‑Year Integrated Law Course
- 2nd to 3rd year students of the Three‑Year LL.B. Course
Duration
- One month (four weeks), commencing on the first day of the month.
Application Procedure
- Applications must be submitted online via NALSA’s official website.
- Required documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
- Expression of Interest (one‑page write‑up)
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Dean/HoD/Internship Committee, mentioning course name and semester/year
- Application window: Accessible for two months before the preceding month of internship (e.g., for January 2026 internship, forms open from 1st September to 30th November 2025).
- Selection is based on draw of lots, and the decision of the Competent Authority is final.
Certificate of Internship
- Awarded upon successful completion of the internship.
- Criteria: 90% attendance during the internship.
- Note: No letters of recommendation will be issued.
Internship Guidelines
- Interns must arrange their own accommodation.
- No stipend, TA/DA, or remuneration is provided.
- Office timings: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Monday to Saturday).
- Interns must carry their own laptops.
- Dress code: Formal Black & White as per Bar Council of Delhi.
- Discipline and etiquette are mandatory; misconduct may lead to termination.
- Internship is full‑time and physical; interns cannot pursue other work during the tenure.
Internship Schedule
- Orientation on NALSA’s objectives and functioning.
- Reading materials: SOPs, schemes, modules, reports, and activities.
- Field visits (approx. 10 days) to:
- Delhi State Legal Services Authority
- District Legal Services Authority
- Legal Aid Defense Counsel Office
- National Lok Adalat
- Exposure to Remand Courts, CAW Cells, DM Office, and other institutions.
- Visits to Supreme Court Mediation Centre, Supreme Court Library, and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
- Concluding interaction with NALSA team and group photograph.
