1st National Article Writing Competition:

Legal Scholarship at the Intersection of Environment, Sustainability & Climate Justice

The Centre for Research in Environmental Law (CREL), Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, in collaboration with the Centre for Environment, Sustainability & Climate Justice (GNLU, Gandhinagar) and Gujarat Maritime University (GMU), proudly announces the 1st National Article Writing Competition. This initiative seeks to foster critical discourse and innovative scholarship on pressing environmental and sustainability challenges through legal research.

• Themes (Choose One):
  1. Ecocide as the Fifth International Crime
  2. Rights of Indigenous Communities in Climate Governance
  3. Airspace Pollution & Regulatory Vacuums
  4. ESG Fraud & Greenwashing
  5. Climate Surveillance & Data Colonialism
  6. Sustainable Development vs. Energy Security
  7. Geopolitical Fragmentation & Global South Perspectives
  8. Sustainable Finance & Banking Regulation
  9. Investor‑State Arbitration vs. Environmental Regulation
• Word Limit: 3,000 words (excluding footnotes)
• Abstract: Maximum 250 words
• Co‑authorship: Permitted (up to 2 authors)
• Formatting: Times New Roman, Size 12 (main text), Size 10 (footnotes), 1.5 spacing, Bluebook/ILI citation style

• Opening of Registration & Submissions: 10 June 2026
• Last Date of Registration: 15 July 2026
• Submission Deadline: 31 July 2026
• Results Announcement: 30 August 2026

Registration Fees:

• General Participants:
  • Single Author – ₹350
  • Co‑authorship – ₹600
• DNLU/GNLU/GMU Students:
  • Single Author – ₹250
  • Co‑authorship – ₹400

Prizes & Recognition:

• First Prize: ₹21,000
• Second Prize: ₹15,000
• Third Prize: ₹9,000
• Total Prize Pool: ₹45,000

• Certificates of Participation for all valid submissions

Academic Integrity:

• Plagiarism limit: 10%
• AI usage limit: 20%
• Penalties apply for exceeding limits; manuscripts beyond 30% AI or 20% similarity will be rejected.
