About Justice Joymalya Bagchi:

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Joymalya Bagchi was born on 3rd October 1966 in Kolkata. He pursued LL.B. from Calcutta University and enrolled as an advocate in 1991.

• Legal Practice:
  • Practised extensively at the Calcutta High Court, other High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India.
  • Specialized in criminal law and constitutional law.
• Judicial Career:
  • Appointed as Permanent Judge, Calcutta High Court (2011).
  • Transferred to Andhra Pradesh High Court (4th January 2021).
  • Repatriated to Calcutta High Court (8th November 2021).
  • Elevated as Judge, Supreme Court of India (17th March 2025).
  • Due to retire on 2nd October 2031.
